Assessment Process

Open Door Design Sessions 1024x496 Process

Step 1 – Design Consultation

The initial consultation is all about understanding the project including goals, objectives and boundaries from both environmental and economic perspective.
We provide preliminary design advice to get you off to the right start and send you a project detail form to get all of the design specifications.

Sketchup Model Process

Step 2 – 3D Model

Once we’ve received your design drawings and completed your project detail form, we will create a 3D model of the design to better understand the measurements, footings and glazing areas.

Step 3 – Inputting Data

When the model is complete, we will start entering your project details into eTool LCA.  Data includes build location, materials, costs, energy systems, transportation, product specifics, finishes and landscaping.
We will also create and compare against project benchmark so that all results are relevant to your climate zone and surpass the regional industry benchmark.

Step 4 – Optimisation

Using the eTool model of your design, we will make changes to see how it perform against your objectives in terms of environmental and cost impacts.
Impacts include carbon, energy efficiency, GreenHouse Gas emissions, water, toxicity and land clearing as well as life cycle costing and performance.

Step 5 – Certification

Once the design optimisation is complete, we will provide a final comprehensive analysis including LCA and LCCA reporting to certify the outcome.

The eTool LCA medal rating and results will then be published as a project case study and you will be able to market the certification to your clients.
